Here are a few test photos I took using an Olympus SP100 zoom camera with a 50X optical maximum. The main issue seems to be that at the maximum zoom, perhaps as expected though, details seem soft.
But when the images are uploaded here at this scale (This site is Retina screen optimised). The results are pretty good.
Maximum zoom across a field really brings up objects in the distance to the front in a surprising way.
Some ducks at not quite maximum zoom (104.2mm) has quite good clarity at this scale.
Definition and sharpness increased in this image at 160.0mm.
