Well it seems there are essentially two kinds of internet.
'The common' internet - this is the internet as accessed almost exclusively via mobile devices such as smart phones and this is primarily via Facebook.
The technical internet - this is the traditional or classic internet simply meaning old school laptops or computers connected to the internet and the various technical infrastructures.
This seems to be back up by a studied here http://qz.com/333313/milliions-of-facebook-users-have-no-idea-theyre-using-the-internet/ that suggests that Facebook is in fact the internet. Because people say ‘yes they use Facebook but don’t use the internet. It could be just the way they word these surveys too. But it does highlight the ubiquity of Facebook as being the primary interface people have with the internet such that it is this ‘interconnection’ of people.
