King Arthur: Legend of the Sword review

I went into this having seen a trailer of it almost a year ago and was expecting it to be an English gangster version of the King Arthur story. The initial scenes with giant destructive magical elephants didn’t quite seem like it but then the classic Guy Ritchie writing and directing do take over making this a really enjoyable version of this tale. The ’story telling’ sequence was expertly handled within the context of setting too.

The effects and cinematography were very detailed but appropriate. The Mage played by Astrid Bergès-Frisbey was a very compelling character in the role normally handled by Merlin, the haunting black eyes and the real passion she had for getting things right made her highly sympathetic yet still quite enigmatic.

Jude Law as the evil Vortigern was excellent casting in the role as a nemesis to both Charlie Hunnam as Arthur and Eric Banner as Uther.
